Jan Kees van Vliet, partner

Jan Kees enjoyed being in business for more than 20 years, but connecting is in his blood so he switched to executive search. Connecting people to organisations and organisations to people energises him. Ever since he was young, he has drawn his friends’ attention to opportunities or developments fitting their personal ambitions. Later on he often actively recruited new colleagues in his working environment or selected volunteers for charities or sports clubs. It is in his nature to share his thoughts. His huge curiosity about organisations and leadership comes in useful. Switching to this branch is the most logical next step in his career.

As a business economist (Erasmus University Rotterdam) Jan Kees started his career in 1996 in a commercial role at Getronics (now KPN). Subsequently he was active as a marketing manager at Philips. Finally, he held several positions at international contractor Mourik (family business) from controller and business development manager to director of corporate affairs in recent years. While working at Mourik he followed the programme Executive Master of Finance and Control at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Because of his previous working environments, he has gained extensive knowledge and experience within the construction industry and the industry. Through his employment history he has gained rich knowledge and experience within the construction and industrial sectors and working in a family business.

His vision on modern leadership has been well expressed by Charles Darwin:
“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change.”
